Just like Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are getting an expansion, more specifically The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. This expansion will be separated in two DLCs, namely The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk. The main Legendaries for each DLC are Ogepron for The Teal Mask and Terapagos for The Indigo Disk
In The Teal Mask DLC, the trainers will take part in a school trip with a festival that is held every year in collaboration with another school. “In Part 1: The Teal Mask, you will be chosen as one of the students to take part in a school trip that is held each year in collaboration with another school. It will take you to the land of Kitakami. A great mountain towers over the land of Kitakami, and the people live at its base. It is a place of tranquil natural expanses, featuring rice paddies and apple orchards—a new and different experience compared to the Paldea region.
Your trip seems to coincide with a festival regularly held in the village in Kitakami during this season, so the village is bustling with various street vendors and stalls. You’ll meet new friends and Pokémon as you unravel the mysteries behind the folktales that have been passed down in this land.”
There the players will also meet the new Legendary Pokémons Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti. They all seem to be a reference to the Japanese folktale of Momotarō In this story, a boy named Momotarō is born inside of a peach and travels alongside a dog, a monkey and a pheasant to defeat a group of oni.
“In Part 2: The Indigo Disk, you will travel to your academy’s sister school, the Blueberry Academy, as an exchange student. Unlike your academy, with its long and storied history, Blueberry Academy is a school that was established in recent years, and its curriculum puts a particular emphasis on Pokémon battling. Most surprising of all is the fact that most of the school’s building is located under the ocean. You will take part in classes, interact with the local students, and experience school life in this unusual academy.”
Not much else is known about The Indigo Disk DLC, but it’s very likely that Terapagos (the legendary of this DLC) is responsible for the Terastal phenomenon (the gimmick of this Pokémon generation) as well as the crater of Paldea and the Paradox Pokémon.
It’s also been confirmed that with both DLCs over 230 old Pokémon will be returning, some of them being Milotic, Chingling, Vikavolt, Ninetails, Shiftry and Yanma for Teal Mask
and Metagross, Whismicott, Alcremie, Zebstrika, Dewgong and Espurr for Indigo Disk.
Both DLCs can be pre-purchased via Nintendo eShop for 35€ as a bundle. The players will also receive 4 new uniform sets upon buying the DLC bundle. Although in the official reveal Teal Mask was said to be released on fall 2023 and Indigo Disk on winter 2023, the eShop release dates are 31/12/2023 for The Teal Mask and 30/04/2024 for The Indigo Disk.
